Job-hunting, via SMS

KUALA LUMPUR: Macro Kiosk Bhd and JobStreet.com are working together to issue SMS (short message service) alerts for JobStreet.com subscribers throughout the region.

"Many jobseekers are usually on the go and with SMS alerts, they can now be alerted of a potential employer anytime, anywhere," said Kenny Goh, Macro Kiosk chief executive officer.

Jobseekers can receive alerts on being shortlisted for a job, requests for résumés by potential employers, scheduled interviews as well as new jobs, Macro Kiosk (www.macrokiosk.com) said in a statement.

To gain access to these alerts, users will need to be registered JobStreet members. To register for the SMS Alerts service, send an SMS containing the phrase "JSA" to 32300.

Postpaid subscribers are charged 50sen for each SMS alert; prepaid subscribers can pay RM50 either by credit card or by cheque for 125 SMS credits. This is equivalent to 40sen for each SMS alert, Macro Kiosk said.

There are currently around 2,000 JobStreet members registered for the SMS Alert service. Additional information can be found at http://my.jobstreet.com.
