Adding colour to SMS

WANT to add colours to your mobile phone’s boring black-text only SMS (short message service) function?

Check out Panasonic’s latest entry-level mobile phone, the A210.

With this phone, users can change the colour of their text instead of being confined to black text.

The catch is the recipient must also use a compatible phone to see these messages in colour.

Also available is the built-in emoticon feature which allows users to use a set of pictographic symbols to convey their feelings.

That’s not all. Each received SMS will be accompanied by coloured light effects in a colour that corresponds with the emoticon.

With this, users can literally feel the emotion in a message before even opening it, claimed Panasonic (www.panasonic.com.my).

The A210 is not just a fun communication tool; it’s also stylish and ultra slim – only 90 x 44 x 16.5mm and a mere 68g.

Other features available with the dualband (GSM900/1800) phone are General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), 500KB built-in memory, 16-polyphonic ringtones, EMS (enhanced messaging service), 400-entry phonebook and productivity tools that include alarm, calculator, currency converter and calendar.

It offers up to nine hours of talktime and up to 230 hours of standby time.

The A210 retails at RM399.

In conjunction with the launch, Panasonic has teamed up with A&W and Converse Malaysia for some promotions.

The first 2,000 units of A210 sold will come with A&W vouchers. Buyers are also entitled to participate in the “Cari & Menang” contest. The prizes for this contest are sponsored by Panasonic, A&W and Converse Malaysia. – ZAM KARIM
