Pay your electricity bill via SMS

KUALA LUMPUR: Some Mobile Money Wallet (MM Wallet) service subscribers can now settle their electricity bills using their cellphones and the short message service (SMS).

Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has just joined the service’s list of merchants.

But for now, the TNB payment option is only available to Mobile Money credit card (from Hong Leong Bank) and Mobile Money ATM card (from Bumiputra-Commerce Bank) holders.

Once a user registers his 14-digit TNB electricity bill account number, MM Wallet will remind him automatically every month via a text message to pay the outstanding amount before the due date.

To settle the bill, he just texts a pre-registered six-digit PIN (personal identification number) to the 66123 short code.
