Asus expands mobile offerings

ASUS recently introduced two new products for the mobile lifesyle — its N10 notebook and P552w PDA phone.

Looking sharp with a streamlined exterior and a shiny metallic coating, the N10 isn’t just another pretty face in a sea of notebooks.

It is in fact a sturdy, dependable notebook with a scratch-resistant panel that retains its sheen even after prolonged use, Asus said.

Small and convenient to be carried around, the N10 sports a 10.2in screen and weighs only 1.4kg with the battery attached. It is powered by the latest Intel Atom N270 processor and comes with 2GB DDR2 RAM and an nVidia GeForce 9300M graphics card.

Other standard features include WiFi 802.11n connectivity and a built-in 1.3-megapixel webcam.

The N10 also comes with enhancements such as Asus’ Express Gate technology that allows users to enjoy quick access to instant messaging and web browsing in just eight seconds, and Asus’ energy efficient Super Hybrid Engine technology that efficiently manages the notebook’s power consumption.

Phone dreams

The Asus 522w PDA phone may seem like standard fare but it comes with a few tricks up its sleeves. It features an innovative touch-responsive user interface called Glide that enables users to perform a variety of navigational actions such as selecting, zooming and scrolling — all with a flick of your fingers.

Equipped with a speedy 624MHz processor and fast 3.5G HSDPA connectivity, the P522w is the perfect companion for the tech-savvy professional on the go, Asus said.

The P522w has a 2.8in TFT touchscreen and uses MicroSD with SDHC support for additional storage space.

Other features include integrated GPS, a 2-megapixel camera and pre-installed applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Maps. The Asus N10 notebook and P552w PDA phone are priced at RM2,799 and RM1,899 respectively. — CHONG JINN XIUNG
