WCIT 2008: Tricubes inks deal with Microsoft

KUALA LUMPUR: Tricubes Bhd, a provider of mobility solutions, has inked a deal with Microsoft Corp that enables the local company to provide its customers access to a variety of Microsoft software at flexible, low monthly rental fees.

Under the Services Provider Licensing Agreement (SPLA), Tricubes serves as a Microsoft Services Provider License Agent to provide SaaS (Software as a Service) mobile solutions to its customers in Malaysia and the rest of the Asia Pacific region.

Tricubes CEO Khairun Zainal Mokhtar announced the deal at the World Congress on Information Technology 2008 on Tuesday.

“Government departments and enterprises that are looking to adopt mobility technologies often cite prohibitive acquisition costs as a major impediment,” he said. “Now with this deal in place, they can gain access to these applications.”

He said Tricubes would be providing the service, together with the base mobile devices, for less than RM100 a month.

SaaS is a model of software deployment where an application is hosted as a service provided to customers via the Internet.

By eliminating the need to install and run the application on a customer’s own computer, SaaS alleviates the customer’s burden of software maintenance and support.

Tricubes is also a member of the Microsoft Certified Partner Programme. — ZAM KARIM
