Canon rolls out AIO printers

MP996

KUALA LUMPUR: CANON has introduced a slew of Pixma AIO (all-in-one) printers for small offices and home users.

The highlight of the launch were the MP996 and MP648 models which can print at a high-resolution of up to 9,600 x 2,400dpi (dots per inch).

The flagship MP996 printer features a six-ink system that uses grey ink to produce professional monochrome photos with reduced graininess and neutral tones.

Both the printers are able to churn out up to 11.9ipm (images per minute) for monochrome and up to 9.1ipm for colour A4 documents. A borderless 5R photo will take up to 20 seconds to be printed.

The five-colour MP648 is a workhorse that lets users print A4 documents at speeds of up to 9.2ipm for monochrome and 8.1ipm for colour.

Just like its sibling, this printer is able to churn out a borderless 5R photo in less than 20 seconds.

Both models scan at 4,800 x 9,600dpi and utilise a white LED lamp to deliver near-instant startup.

They also offer an output tray with an innovative built-in sensor that automatically opens and closes the tray when in operation.

Thanks to the built-in WiFi and ethernet connectivity, users can easily share the printing and scanning duties between multiple PCs.

The MP996 has a 3.8in screen and the MP990 has a 3in display. Both have a built-in card reader for printing without requiring a PC.

The MP996 and MP990 retail for RM1,588 and RM988 respectively.

At the same event, Canon also introduced four other Pixma AIO printers that feature similar specification but are available at a much affordable price.

The MP568 and MP558 retail for RM888 and RM698 respectively. Both have a resolution of up to 9,600 x 2,400dpi and a 2in LCD screen.

The entry-level MP496 and MP258 cost RM368 and RM238 respectively. These have a print resolution of up to 4,800 x 1,200dpi. — ZAM KARIM
