Get the power of DirectX 11
ATI Radeon HD 5870 PETALING JAYA: AMD has unveiled its most powerful graphics card series yet, the ATI Radeon HD 5800.
It is the world’s first graphic card series to fully support Microsoft’s DirectX 11 graphics technology which is expected to power next-generation games such as DiRT 2, Aliens vs. Predator, as well as updated versions of The Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons and Dragons Online.
DirectX 11 will be available with the upcoming Windows 7 operating system and also for Vista. The graphics cards also support DirectX 9, DirectX 10, DirectX 10.1 and OpenGL titles, ensuring broad application support for now and the future.
Initially two cards will be shipped under the series, the Radeon HD 5870 and 5850, each with 1GB GDDR5 memory.
The Radeon 5870’s core and stream processors are clocked at 850MHz and the 5850’s are pegged at 725MHz.
Additionally, the cards support CrossFireX technology for using multiple graphics card in one PC for even better performance.
The cards are capable of driving up to three LCD monitors in any mix of portrait or landscape configuration, enabling users to enjoy multi-monitor computing environment.
The Radeon 5870 and 5850 retail for US$400 (RM1,350) and US$300 (RM1,000) respectively. — ZAM KARIM
