Lenovo beefs up the IdeaPad
PETALING JAYA:The Lenovo IdeaPad Y550P is a high-end notebook which ships with the latest Intel processor, a fast graphics processor and even a Blu-ray drive for those who wish to mix business with pleasure.
Even the preinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) received a boost in the form of Lenovo Enhanced Experience certification.
The certification — the result of a joint effort between Microsoft and Lenovo — ensures that the operating system is optimised so that the notebook has a faster boot time of up to 57% and shuts down within 5 seconds.
The notebook has an Intel Core i7-720QM processor (1.6GHz, 133MHz FSB, 6MB L3 Cache) with support for Turbo Boost.
Turbo Boost allows the processor to push the speed of the active cores from 1.6GHz to 2.8GHz by shutting down the idle ones.
This model also has a unique SlideNav touch-sensitive navigator bar located just above to keyboard that makes it faster and easier to navigate programs, documents and shortcuts, or even change the wallpaper quickly.
When it comes to entertainment, the Y550P does not disappoint as it has a large 15.6in widescreen (1,366 x 768pixels) with LED backlight, a fast nVidia GeForce GT 240M 1GB graphics processor and an integrated subwoofer with support for Dolby Home Theatre surround sound.
While the built-in OneKey Theatre feature enhances Blu-ray or DVD movies by automatically adjusting the picture and audio to offer a cinema-like experience.
It also has 4GB DDR3 memory, 500GB of hard disk space, Bluetooth, WiFi and a built-in webcam that supports VeriFace face recognition technology.
The IdeaPad Y550P notebook retails for RM4,799. — ZAM KARIM
