Chini Timur folk cozy up to ICT
PETALING JAYA: Over a thousand people attended the “Karnival Meh Datan” at the P1 Community Broadband Centre (P1 CBC) in Chini Timur, Pahang recently.
“Meh Datan” is a colloquial term that means “come.” The Chini Timur community attended the carnival to understand how information communications technology (ICT) can promote and support enterprise and entrepreneurship.
This community outreach programme showed the community how ICT could raise the bar on productivity, quality and enable better distribution of products and services, a press statement said.
There were various workshops organised throughout the two day carnival, including lessons on creating blogs, video-streaming and others.
“Karnival Meh Datan enabled us to reach out to the whole community and educate them on how 4G WiMAX broadband technology can make a difference in their daily lives,” said Noor Azlina Binti Mohd Saod, manager of the P1 CBC in Chini Timur.
The event was a national ICT initiative supported by MSC Malaysia as part of its efforts to bridge the digital divide and create greater ICT awareness in rural areas.
