External drive with a view

PETALING JAYA: Western Digital has unveiled its latest ultra-portable external hard drive, My Passport Elite. My Passport Elite features an illuminated capacity gauge to provide an instant view of how much of space is available on the drive.

The drive lock indicator, on the other hand, indicates whether the data is secure. The padlock icon indicates that the drive is password protected with 256-bit hardware-based encryption.

The encryption acts as a virtual padlock to keep users’ data secure. Without the correct password, users cannot access the files on the drive.

The unique design of the dock enables users to quickly connect and disconnect their drive with one hand. The dock eliminates the need to search for an empty USB port as well as provides power to the drive via the USB port.

The My Passport Elite comes with WD SmartWare software. It offers features like automatic and continuous data backup that instantly makes a second copy whenever a file is added or changed. Also users can view the data backup as it happens.

The other features include retrieving valuable data to its original location whether it is lost data or the file has been overwritten.

The drives are available in 3 metallic colours — red, blue and charcoal, and come with a The drives come with three-year limited warranty.

My Passport Elite drives are available in capacities of 320GB (RM319), 500GB (RM419) and 640GB (RM549).
