Logitech mice for any surface
KUALA LUMPUR: The latest Logitech Performance Mouse M950 and Anywhere Mouse M905 can be used virtually on any surface including clear glass (that’s at least 4mm thick) and high-gloss surfaces.
M905 The mice utilise the company’s Darkfield laser tracking technology to detect microscopic particles and scratches on a surface to detect movement.
Regular laser tracking technology relies on the mouse’s sensor to detect the textural detail of the surface — the more irregularities, the better the result.
As high-gloss surfaces are almost completely flat, there are not enough details for the mouse to detect.
The Darkfield technology works similar to the way in which our eye sees the stars on a clear night sky — the mouse’s sensor sees the clean areas of glass as a dark background and the dust on the surface as bright dots.
It interprets the movement of these dots to track exactly where you’ve moved the mouse.
The M950 is a full-sized rechargeable mouse with four customisable buttons that put your most important controls such as application switching and zooming at your fingertips.
The mouse is bundled with a wall charger and also a USB cable so it can be recharged from a PC even while you are using it.
Meanwhile, the compact-sized M905 is a notebook mouse that works wherever you do. To protect it while in transit, a travel pouch is included in the package.
The device’s contoured shape fits naturally in most hands, the company claimed. Its back and forward buttons are placed within reach of your thumb to help you surf the Internet efficiently.
The mouse uses one AA battery to operate but interestingly, users can insert another battery into the second bay and together both batteries will give users up to four months of usage.
The only disadvantage is that with two batteries inserted, the mouse will be slightly heavier.
Both M950 and M905 feature hyper-fast scrolling so you quickly and freely scroll through a long document, and the click-to-click mode provides more precision when navigating lists, photos and slideshows.
Also, the mice use a tiny plug-and-forget Unifying Receiver to connect to a PC or laptop. This receiver will work with up to six other Logitech products such as a keyboard.
The M950 and M905 are priced at RM429 and RM309 respectively. — ZAM KARIM
