PS Store accepts Ringgit

By ZAM KARIM

KUALA LUMPUR: Fans of the Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) and PlayStation Portable (PSP) can now pay in Ringgit when they purchase downloadable content from the PlayStation Store.

Customers can access the store, which is operated by Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong Ltd, with their Malaysian PlayStation Network account.

However, the store only accepts payment using the PlayStation Network prepaid card, which can be purchased from Sony Centre and Sony Style retail outlets nationwide.

The company said plans are underway to allow users to pay by credit card but no further details were made available.

The payment in local currency is the only thing that differentiates PlayStation Store Malaysia with stores available in other countries. Downloadable content such as full games, add-on expansion packs, playable demos, themes and movie trailers are the same.

Also users can check out game patches, costumes and weapons for games like LittleBigPlant, Street Fighter, Killzone 2 Steel & Titanium Pack and Resident Evil.

The PlayStation Store also offers exclusive content including the inFamous game trial as well as three PS3 games — Trash Box: Flower, Rag Doll Kung Fu and Fists of Plastic.

The service is accessible via an icon on the XMB (XrossMediaBar) on the PS3 and PSP. Alternatively, the PS3 store can also be accessed on the PSP via the remote play connection to the PS3. There is also a free PC application called Sony Media Go for those who want to manage their digital content for the PSP through their computer.
