SHAH ALAM: IF YOU think Canon’s latest Selphy CP790 portable photo printer is a tub of ice-cream, we don’t blame you.

The printer comes in a cute green-coloured housing that looks like a children’s play bucket but its clever design hides a storage compartment for accessories such as the cable, ink and paper.

Users can just pack in everything, place the printer back in the basket, flip up the little attached handle and it is good to go.

A large 3in LCD display and Canon’s Easy-Scroll Wheel on the lid gives away its true function and makes it quick and easy to set up, navigate and print.

The printer uses a dye-sublimation printing process to produce smooth, lab-quality prints at up to 300 x 300dpi in as little as 47 seconds, Canon said.

The printer also supports a range of paper cassettes, including wide, credit card size and mini sticker sizes.

With built-in red-eye correction, skin tone optimisation and noise reduction features, users can be assured of enhance photo quality as well, Canon claimed.

Additionally, a special coating ensures these photo papers are protected from spills, splashes and smudges.

With lasting quality — each print should last for up to 100 years when stored in an album — the CP790 is a great way to preserve precious family memories.

It also comes with a range of layout templates as well as special effects such as sepia, vivid and black & white for creative customisation.

There is no need to connect the CP790 to a PC as it has a PictBridge port as well as a 21-in-1 memory card slot that supports almost all memory card formats.

Users can even produce prints directly from their mobile phones via infrared or an optional Bluetooth adapter.

An optional lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack is also available for printing in places like parks or beaches where a power source is unavailable, Canon said.

The Selphy CP790 will be available next month for RM668.
