Skali opens Frontier to others
KUALA LUMPUR: Softlakes Sdn Bhd, the technology arm of e-business specialist, the Skali Group, has launched a commercialised version of its flagship product, Frontier.
The product helps organisations adopt a more efficient business process workflow. It can manage the assignment of tasks, allocate resources, and keep track of project budgets.
“In a nutshell, Frontier addresses the issues of today’s more demanding workflow processes,” said Aimi Aizal Nasharuddin, president of Skali Group, at the product launch here.
The result of six months of development work, Frontier was tested extensively by Skali employees before being allowed onto the market.
“It is a procedure at Skali to test our products on ourselves first to make sure they are fully ready for commercial use,” said Aimi.
Frontier leverages on the Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server (Moss) Platform, which streamlines business processes.
This, said Skali executive director Saiful Khairi, gives Frontier an advantage over its competitors.
“Many organisations are on Moss so Frontier customers do not need to customise or integrate the product. It’s just plug-and-play for them,” he said.
Currently, the product features only project management capabilities but Skali plans to add more features in the near future.
“We are looking to add CRM (customer relationship management), knowledge management, and human resource management capabilities,” Aimi said.
Frontier is offered as an on-premises and software-as-a-service (Saas) solution. The on-premises version is priced at RM100,000 while the Saas version can be subscribed to for RM10,000 per month.
Saiful said Skali and Softlakes will spend the remainder of the year focusing on creating awareness for the product and will be promoting it more aggressively next year.
“We’re hoping to sign up five to 10 clients by year end, and many more next year,” he said.
Skali also announced that it and Softlakes will continue to work with their technology partners to introduce new products to the company’s portfolio.
To achieve this goal, Skali may acquire other technology companies. “It’s part of our technology roadmap and we are considering the economic impact and feasibility of doing so,” Aimi said.
