A new trio of Lumix cameras

PUTRAJAYA:Panasonic recently launched three new digital cameras — the Lumix DMC-FZ35K, DMC-FP8 and DMC-ZR1.
Leading the charge is the 12.1- megapixel FZ35K super zoom camera, which is noted for its very long 18x (35mm equivalent of 27 - 486mm) optical zoom lens that also extends back to offer a 27mm wide angle.
The camera also has a wide maximum aperture of f/2.8, that makes it great for taking photos with a shallow depth of field.
However, the most notable feature of the FZ35K is its ability to record high-definition videos in the AVCHD Lite format — this format that gives users double the recording time in HD quality compared to the conventional Motion JPEG format.
The FZ35K also lets users get creative with their movies and photos as it allows them to set the shutter speed and aperture manually to take more expressive shots.
The next new Lumix camera is the FP8, a slim 12.1-megapixel camera that features a wide-angle 28mm lens and 4.6x zoom (35mm equivalent of 28-128mm) Leica DC lens with folding optics.
The FP8 utilises a retracting lens with folding optics so it doesn’t have an extending lens barrel, which makes it easy to fit in your pocket.
Its flat body is built of aluminium, which provides an attractive aesthetic outline for fashion conscious users. The camera also has a fast start-up time of only 0.95 seconds, Panasonic said.
Next up is the ZR1, which is a slim compact camera with 25mm wide-angle lens and 8x optical zoom (35mm equivalent of 25-200mm).
It features a fast start-up time of 1.1 seconds and is capable of recording high-definition videos at 1,280 x 720-pixels at 30 frames per second.
All three cameras feature Power OIS (optical image stabiliser) for eliminating camera shake, ultra fast AF (auto-focusing) speeds for taking high speed shots and face recognition.
The FZ35K, FP8 and ZR1 are immediately available at RM1,699, RM1,299 and RM1,399 respectively.
