KUALA LUMPUR: Register a .my domain name or renew a current one and you’ll get a 50% reduction on the fee. For renewals, the discount is applicable for a renewal period of one-year.
.my Domain Registry — the sole registrar and administrator for web addresses that end with .my in Malaysia — is running a promotional campaign.
Its fees now range between RM32 and RM120, depending on the type of .my domain name.
The campaign, which ends Sept 4, is offered in conjunction with the National ICT Month 2009 and the upcoming Aug 31 Merdeka Day celebration of Malaysia’s indepenence.
A .my domain name endows Malaysian businesses and individuals with brand identity on the Internet.
“Having a unique online identity is as important as having a conventional identity,” said Puan Shariya Haniz Zulkifli, director of .my Domain Registry. “It helps companies and individuals secure and protect their identities (in cyberspace).”
In support of the campaign, a number of .my Domain Registry’s resellers are offering additional promotions, such as free hosting packages and even-lower domain-name prices. For a list of resellers, go to www.domainregistry.my or call (03) 8991-7272.
The National ICT Month 2009 is co-organised by Pikom (the Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia) and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
Pikom president C.J. Ang said the .my Domain Registry campaign complements the association’s efforts to help move the country’s economy up the value chain.
