Juniper hardware for TEIN3

KUALA LUMPUR: Juniper Networks’ routers and switches have been deployed in the third generation of the Trans-Eurasia Information Network (TEIN3).

The network provides a dedicated high-capacity Internet platform for research and education communities across 11 countries in Asia Pacific — including the Malaysian Myren network which operates from the MSC Malaysia innovation centre in Cyberjaya.

TEIN3 offers Asia Pacific a gateway for global collaboration, enabling the more than 30 million users in 4,000 regional research and educational organisations to engage in joint projects.

These projects include efforts to fight malaria, forecast extreme weather conditions, and improve public health via telemedicine initiatives.

Juniper said its infrastructure will enable TEIN3 to deliver advanced services, such as next-generation videoconferencing, virtual classrooms, and remote consulting.

It will also help lower total cost of ownership and greatly improve scale and efficiency while facilitating the transition to IPv6 — the next generation Internet Protocol version that enables a larger capacity for web addresses and simplifies address configuration.
