USM students win study trip to Helsinki
KUALA LUMPUR: A trio of students from Universiti Sains Malaysia took first place in the inaugural National Inter-Varsity Security Tech Quiz Championship 08/09.
The team won a study trip to cybersecurity expert F-Secure Corp’s headquarters in Helsinki, Finland, A professor from the university will accompany the students.
The quiz, held last month, was organised by F-Secure to promote cybersecurity awareness. Some 56 teams from 17 universities and colleges around Malaysia participated.
A team from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia took second place. Each student won an Acer netbook computer.
F-Secure hopes the quiz will encourage computer science, computer information systems, and computer forensics students in local universities to become world-class experts.
The quiz was endorsed by industry regulator the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and MSC Malaysia initiative guardian, the Multimedia Development Corporation.
