IRB consolidates datacentre
KUALA LUMPUR: The Inland Revenue Board (LHDNM) has consolidated and virtualised the datacentre at its headquarters in Jalan Duta here.
Datuk Mohd Shukor Haji Mahfar, its deputy director-general, said the LHDNM replaced 55 servers with one enterprise-server, using virtual infrastructure technology.
“As a result, our datacentre footprint has been reduced by 50%. We’ve also cut our power consumption by 70%.”
The project was undertaken by IT service provider Formis Network Services Sdn Bhd, which partnered with Unisys Malaysia, Hitachi Data Systems and VMware.
Unisys handled the server consolidation portion of the project while Hitachi Data Systems managed the storage consolidation component. VMWare supplied the server and storage virtualisation solution.
