Sony Ericsson readies the Xperia X2
PETALING JAYA: Fans of the first Xperia X1 smartphone will be glad to know that Sony Ericsson will start shipping its successor, the X2, by the end of the year.
The X2 will be one of the first smartphone to come preinstalled with the upcoming Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system which features a new user interface and a better web browser.
The phone, which has a large 3.2in touchscreen, features a new interactive 3D interface.
The interface has 14 preloaded panels and users can download an additional 16. The panels can be customised so that users can view updates of their favourite websites.
While the SlideView feature allows quick access to frequently used phone functions such as contacts, messages and media files.
The smartphone has an 8.1-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash. It records videos in VGA resolution at 30fps (frame per second) and stores it in MPEG4 format.
The smartphone also has a TV-out port, which allows users to show off their presentations or view multimedia files on the big screen.
The X2 also features a sliding Qwerty keyboard, A-GPS, WiFi, accelerometer and Bluetooth with A2DP profile.
It has 110MB of internal storage that users can expand via the microSDHC slot which supports up to 16GB capacity. A 4GB SanDisk microSD flash card is included with the phone.
The phone has a rated talktime of up to 10 hours a standby time of up to 21 days. The X2 will be available in two colours — silver and black.
